Welcome to the Week 9 Wide Receiver Rankings!
It’s tough out there for receivers with at least 15 playable options sitting out on byes. You really feel it when you get into the WR3s, which are pretty light all the way through and that makes the flexes pretty shaky as well.
For Week 9 DFF, Nuk Hopkins, Robert Woods, Courtland Sutton, DJ Moore, Cooper Kupp and Sammy Watkins are all high on my list this week when I look at projections contrasted against cost. I’ll fine-tune the list some on the Saturday DFF podcast.
I’ll be back in a bit with the running backs and tight ends.
These rankings will be updated on Saturday.
The Week 9 bye teams are the Bengals, Giants, Jaguars, Eagles, Colts and Cardinals.

Rank | Name | Team | Cost | Game Info | The Skinny |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Adam Thielen | MIN | 8.900 | DET@MIN 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Locked in and in great position once again as Diggs will handle the toughest matchup (Darius Slay) while Thielen works the inside. Might be out of my price range this week, but I’ll be looking for good ways to fit him in if I can. |
| DeAndre Hopkins | HOU | 8.300 | HOU@DEN 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | The volume should flow to him now and he avoids their best corner, Chris Harris, who will be working on Coutee in the slot. |
| Antonio Brown | PIT | 8.400 | PIT@BAL 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | He’s scoring too often to call it a fluke. The volume may be down, but he’s still getting it done. |
| Davante Adams | GB | 8.200 | GB@NE 11/04/2018 08:20PM ET | He’s as close to matchup-proof as receivers not named Thielen get. |
| Mike Evans | TB | 8.100 | TB@CAR 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Tweaked his knee towards the end of last week’s game, so keep tabs on him. He got in a limited practice on Thursday. ***UPDATE*** Evans is no off the injury report, which gets him a bump up. |
| Michael Thomas | NO | 7.600 | LAR@NO 11/04/2018 04:25PM ET | Has a sore shoulder and was limited at practice. Sounds like something minor, but it’s worth monitoring for Thomas teams. |
| Julio Jones | ATL | 7.900 | ATL@WAS 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Tough matchup, but they have nobody who can play him one-on-one. He’ll probably catch 8 balls as usual. He’d be a spot or two higher in full PPR. |
| Robert Woods | LAR | 7.000 | LAR@NO 11/04/2018 04:25PM ET | Love this matchup for him. He should avoid Lattimore most of the day. |
| Tyreek Hill | KC | 8.000 | KC@CLE 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Full practice so the groin injury looks like a a small concern. |
| Brandin Cooks | LAR | 6.700 | LAR@NO 11/04/2018 04:25PM ET | Revenge game! True, but he should have the toughest CB matchup with Lattimore on him most of the day. |
| Keenan Allen | LAC | 7.300 | LAC@SEA 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | I am feeling Keenan a bit now. He’s looked good lately but the volume hasn’t been there and he’s been in some ugly games as well. I think he starts to heat up this week and has a big second half of 2018. |
| Jarvis Landry | CLE | 6.500 | KC@CLE 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Gets a bump in full PPR. Nice matchup. |
| Julian Edelman | NE | 6.600 | GB@NE 11/04/2018 08:20PM ET | He should have a good day as always. They will need him to get the offense cranking. I see 7 plus receptions so he gets a bump in full PPR.. |
| Cooper Kupp | LAR | 6.000 | LAR@NO 11/04/2018 04:25PM ET | Limited practice and a good bet to return for the Saints game. ***UPDATE*** He is now off the injury report. A great sign. |
| Emmanuel Sanders | DEN | 6.400 | HOU@DEN 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | He’s now the clear cut number one receiver. Not that he was anything less last week, but Thomas is now gone and Sutton’s a rookie. |
| JuJu Smith-Schuster | PIT | 7.200 | PIT@BAL 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | He’s been a bit game flow dependent recently but he’s still a great player. This is a tough matchup, so call him as WR2. |
| Sammy Watkins | KC | 4.900 | KC@CLE 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Looking better and better and this is a good matchup for him. |
| Kenny Golladay | DET | 5.500 | DET@MIN 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | He gets a target bump with Tate gone. |
| Marvin Jones Jr. | DET | 5.300 | DET@MIN 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | He also gets a target bump with Tate gone. Should see a lot of Xavier Rhodes this week though. |
| John Brown | BAL | 5.800 | PIT@BAL 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | It’s a typical week for him. He’ll face some tough coverage but will run routes that give him the chance at big plays. |
| Josh Gordon | NE | 6.300 | GB@NE 11/04/2018 08:20PM ET | Not getting the full love yet and we now have to wonder if it’s due to behavioral stuff. The Pats stayed quiet at the deadline, so that’s a plus and Belichick denied any issues existed. My take here is that NE is slow rolling Gordon—using him as-needed to gain a tactical advantage but not filling his cup up as they might if he was not an addict. It makes sense. He’ll be ready to dominate when the games really matter. We all know the Patriots will coast to another division title and probably a playoff bye with or without Gordon. |
| DeSean Jackson | TB | 5.000 | TB@CAR 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Not a great matchup because the Panthers like to keep the play in front of the DBs. I think it sets up best for Godwin and Humphries. Still, D-Jax can make big plays after the catch too, so he’s a viable WR3 play. |
| Danny Amendola | MIA | 4.700 | NYJ@MIA 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Should catch 6-10 balls this week. |
| Devin Funchess | CAR | 5.600 | TB@CAR 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Low ceiling but a solid floor. He gets you about 50 yards a week and is always a threat to score. |
| Courtland Sutton | DEN | 3.900 | HOU@DEN 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | More volume is coming his way now that DT is a Texan. Sutton is a work in progress but he’s ready to make big contributions in the red zone and can also drop the occasional big play. He’s a good ball tracker and he’s got good hands and those traits combined with his massive frame make him a tough cover. |
| Calvin Ridley | ATL | 5.700 | ATL@WAS 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | His ankle should have healed up during the bye week. He’s a viable WR3 in this matchup. |
| Michael Crabtree | BAL | 4.800 | PIT@BAL 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | He should avoid Haden in coverage for most of the day and that helps some. |
| Amari Cooper | DAL | 4.600 | TEN@DAL 11/05/2018 08:15PM ET | Logic says they gave up a ton for him and they will use him a lot. |
| Marquez Valdes-Scantling | GB | 4.700 | GB@NE 11/04/2018 08:20PM ET | Gets a nice bump with Allison banged up. |
| Chris Godwin | TB | 4.400 | TB@CAR 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Plenty of potential in this game and his playing time has been there the last two games. He got caught up in Jameis’ trainwreck last week. That was the cause of his target inefficiency. |
| Doug Baldwin | SEA | 5.300 | LAC@SEA 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | It’s tough to get things going when your team throws so infrequently. |
| Demaryius Thomas | HOU | 4.500 | HOU@DEN 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | Can they integrate him in a few days? I’m calling him a risky WR3 play. |
| Taylor Gabriel | CHI | 5.100 | CHI@BUF 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Has a sore knee and was limited at practice so double check his status this week before locking him in. |
| D.J. Moore | CAR | 4.300 | TB@CAR 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | |
| Tyler Lockett | SEA | 5.200 | LAC@SEA 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | Tough matchup. |
| Corey Davis | TEN | 4.800 | TEN@DAL 11/05/2018 08:15PM ET | He’s an intriguing buy-low option, but he’s buy-low for a reason. Davis could explode at any time. His QB’s injury is his injury in practical terms. His hammy is good to go this week. |
| DeVante Parker | MIA | 4.600 | NYJ@MIA 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | |
| Anthony Miller | CHI | 3.700 | CHI@BUF 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Should see extra targets this week with Robinson and perhaps Gabriel banged up. I still think Miller is their best receiver for the long term. |
| Tyrell Williams | LAC | 4.200 | LAC@SEA 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | He’s a nice GPP sart throw. |
| Tre'Quan Smith | NO | 4.200 | LAR@NO 11/04/2018 04:25PM ET | |
| Willie Snead IV | BAL | 4.200 | PIT@BAL 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Gets a bump in full PPR. Nice matchup for him in the slot. |
| David Moore | SEA | 3.900 | LAC@SEA 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | |
| Michael Gallup | DAL | 3.700 | TEN@DAL 11/05/2018 08:15PM ET | |
| Jakeem Grant | MIA | 3.700 | NYJ@MIA 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | |
| Mohamed Sanu | ATL | 5.100 | ATL@WAS 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | |
| Rashard Higgins | CLE | 3.700 | KC@CLE 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Practiced Thursday so he may return this week. |
| Mike Williams | LAC | 3.800 | LAC@SEA 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | |
| Paul Richardson Jr. | WAS | 3.800 | ATL@WAS 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | |
| Curtis Samuel | CAR | 3.500 | TB@CAR 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | |
| Josh Doctson | WAS | 4.200 | ATL@WAS 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | |
| Chris Hogan | NE | 4.200 | GB@NE 11/04/2018 08:20PM ET | |
| Randall Cobb | GB | 4.600 | GB@NE 11/04/2018 08:20PM ET | Nursing a sore hammy. |
| Jermaine Kearse | NYJ | 4.200 | NYJ@MIA 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | |
| Antonio Callaway | CLE | 4.200 | KC@CLE 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | He’s questionable with an ankle. |
| Cole Beasley | DAL | 4.100 | TEN@DAL 11/05/2018 08:15PM ET | |
| Tajae Sharpe | TEN | 3.800 | TEN@DAL 11/05/2018 08:15PM ET | |

| Demarcus Robinson | KC | 3.000 | KC@CLE 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | |
| Stefon Diggs | MIN | 6.800 | DET@MIN 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | No practice (sore ribs) but expected to play. Make sure you check his status before locking him in. Will see a lot of Darius Slay in coverage this week. ***UPDATE*** He’s trending towards out. If he does play, it’ll be on a token basis. I’m pulling him down to the bottom of the ranks. |
| Golden Tate | DET | 5.900 | DET@MIN 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | On the bye now that he’s an Eagle. |
| Geronimo Allison | GB | 4.600 | GB@NE 11/04/2018 08:20PM ET | Now doubtful. |
| Allen Robinson II | CHI | 5.200 | CHI@BUF 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | No practice (groin) so he’s very questionable and it’s a game they can clearly win without him. I expect him to sit, but I’ll upgrade him on Saturday if I’m wrong. |
| Kenny Stills | MIA | 4.300 | NYJ@MIA 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Still no practice (groin) and looking doubtful for week 9. I’ll upgrade him if he practices. |
| Robby Anderson | NYJ | 4.300 | NYJ@MIA 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Still out (ankle) and looking doubtful for Week 9. I’ll upgrade him if he practices, but you should be making other plans. |
| Quincy Enunwa | NYJ | 4.000 | NYJ@MIA 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Still no practice (ankle) so probably out again. |
| Tavon Austin | DAL | 3.000 | TEN@DAL 11/05/2018 08:15PM ET | OUT (groin) |
| Torrey Smith | CAR | 3.500 | TB@CAR 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | Still no practice (knee) so he is a good bet to sit again in Week 9. ***UPDATE*** He’s out. |
| Keke Coutee | HOU | 5.300 | HOU@DEN 11/04/2018 04:05PM ET | He’s OUT (hamstring) |
| Jamison Crowder | WAS | 4.100 | ATL@WAS 11/04/2018 01:00PM ET | OUT (ankle) |
| Marquise Goodwin | SF | 5.500 | OAK@SF 11/01/2018 08:20PM ET | (ALREADY PLAYED) He’s got QB concerns this week. You know—more than he normally does post-Garoppolo. |
| Jordy Nelson | OAK | 4.600 | OAK@SF 11/01/2018 08:20PM ET | (ALREADY PLAYED) Not dependable—even after Cooper’s departure. Oakland is a madhouse right now. |
| Seth Roberts | OAK | 3.700 | OAK@SF 11/01/2018 08:20PM ET | (ALREADY PLAYED) |
| Brandon LaFell | OAK | 3.800 | OAK@SF 11/01/2018 08:20PM ET | (ALREADY PLAYED) |
