Dynasty Update: Kenny Stills, WR, Saints
One player that’s been very much under-the-radar is our guy Kenny Stills. We’re very excited about the team he went to and we like his talents as much as any other receiver on the New Orleans roster.
You can check out our pre-draft report on Stills here.
Now that Stills is a Saint, we are even higher on his long term value. He should be a priority in dynasty drafts. I’d take him over all but a handful of rookie receivers, such as Tavon Austin, Corderrelle Patterson, Aaron Dobson, DeAndre Hopkins and Quinton Patton.
Kenny Stills is our Denarius Moore for 2013. He is simply better than where he was taken and he could start making an impact right away as Denarius did. We’ll have to see how quickly he picks up the offense. There’s obviously a lot of competition for jobs and snaps in Big Easy this season. Wide receiver coach Henry Ellard likes what he’s seen so far. "Just a smart kid that can run. We love that part because you can't coach speed," Ellard said. "He's adjusting well to what we're doing, picking up on things and eliminating mistakes."
Stills college stats show a player that got better every year. That jibes fully with what we see on film. As he tries to make his biggest jump yet--the jump to the next level, he has a few advantages.
- He’s got an NFL player for a father.
- He’s got Drew Brees at QB. That means that as he faces better competition, he does so with a better QB. No disrespect intended to Landry Jones.
- He’s got Sean Payton as his coach and he fits the system well. Stills could do a lot more with Devery Henderson’s old role than Henderson ever did.
Stills is a player to keep a very close eye on the next few months. He has a really good chance to be the next top receiver in New Orleans at some point. Get him now in long term formats and keep an eye on him in redrafts.
