Johnathan Franklin, RB, Packers
Johnathan Franklin is more than just a guy with a terribly spelled name. As I said before the draft, this is a player with a good NFL skill set. It’s true that going to a team that had already drafted Eddie Lacy was a blow to his fantasy value, but Franklin is still an important player with the release of Alex Green and the injuries to DuJuan Harris and James Starks. In Week 3, Franklin finally showed what he can do.
Franklin is not owned in 63% of CBS leagues. When you consider that Eddie Lacy is owned in 100% of leagues, that means that 63% of Lacy owners, at minimum, are taking unnecessary risk and should add Franklin if possible. Well, to be fair, some of those leagues are 10-teamers, so I might be a little off. Still, Franklin has a ton of upside and I was able to add him in a few 12-team leagues this week. Do the same if you can ... especially if you are a Lacy owner. Though he's feeling better, it would be unwise to simply assume that Lacy's injuries, including his recent concussion are now a thing of the past.
In 14-team leagues and larger, I project Franklin to be a solid weekly flex during the bye weeks. Green Bay’s bye was last week.
