These are the most essential handcuff options. The starters for these teams play in backfields that are not committee backfields and that have a player that we consider to be a worthy handcuff option.

Most of these backups only have significant stand-alone value in large formats, but they have legit value as handcuff options in 12-team leagues. If you own the starter, I’d consider picking up the handcuff if they are available. Some are probably taken, like Joique Bell and Montee Ball, but you should add them if you can. The starters are in parentheses.

  • Seahawks - Christine Michael (1st option) and or Robert Turbin (Marshawn Lynch)
  • Lions - Joique Bell (Reggie Bush)
  • Broncos - Montee Ball (Knowshon Moreno)
  • 49ers - Kendall Hunter (Frank Gore)
  • Redskins - Roy Helu (Alfred Morris)
  • Chiefs - Knile Davis (Jamaal Charles)
  • Bears - Michael Bush (Matt Forte)
  • Vikings - Toby Gerhart (Adrian Peterson)
  • Eagles - Bryce Brown (LeSean McCoy)
  • Packers - James Starks (Eddie Lacy)
  • Texans - Dennis Johnson (Ben Tate)
  • Rams - Benny Cunningham (Zac Stacy)
  • Ravens - Bernard Pierce (Ray Rice)
  • Jets - Bilal Powell (Chris Ivory)
  • Titans - Shonn Greene (Chris Johnson)
  • Steelers - Jonathan Dwyer (Le’Veon Bell)
