Tavarres King, WR, Broncos

All of the injuries in Green Bay have caused to the Broncos to preemptively sign WR Tavarres King from their practice squad. The move says one thing loud and clear. The Broncos do not want to lose King. That means the kid can probably play a little.  We agree!  He's an interesting option if you want to go for a WR handcuff behind one of Payton Manning's receivers, who are obviously worth a ton.

Here’s what I had to say about King back when we did our Rookie Rankings....

Tavarres King, Broncos, 6’0”, 189, 4.47

Needs to catch the ball better and needs to develop some strength to deal with the jam at the next level. He’s behind Decker and Thomas so he will be afforded some time to develop, but he could see some time as a deep threat this season if he has a good camp. He’s worth a look in deep leagues if you have invested in Decker or Demaryius. It’s also possible that they try and turn him into slot guy as Welker is close to the end. King’s worth owning for sure, but we see him as a big play option for the QB after Manning versus a guy who can get it done right away.

That Welker comment was obviously from a dynasty perspective.  Of course, I still might want to amend it a bit after what he's done so far.  King is now a player to roster in really deep formats and a player to own in long term leagues. Of course, he was already a player to own in long term leagues, but his value just went up a tick. It may have gone up even more if he’d been added by the Packers, who obviously have injuries at receiver.
