Welcome the the Week 3 quarterback rankings. I’ll be back with the backs, receivers and tight ends before kickoff tonight and I’ll update all of the rankings on Saturday to reflect practice and injury reports. I’ll be back tomorrow with my Starts and Sits column at  Jim Hackett and I will be doing a podcast tomorrow morning where we’ll cover a whole host of issues, including tonight’s game.  I'll be posting links to all WEEI content in The Rotobahn.  That's the place to go if you can't find something.  I'm indexing all in-season content there.

I’ll be back around 5 pm with the receivers.

Peyton Manning DEN OAK Hard to see much of anything going wrong for Peyton here.
Colin Kaepernick SF IND This is a get-well game for CK.
Matthew Stafford DET @WAS He is in good position here. Washington is weak on the back end. Throw throw throw.
Aaron Rodgers GB @CIN It’s a tough road matchup, but Rodgers gets it done most every week in most every matchup.
Drew Brees NO ARI It’s a home game and he has enough weapons to work around the Cardinals’ corners.
Matt Ryan ATL @MIA He is going to throw the ball against a very tough run defense and without his number one back.
Sam Bradford STL @DAL He did well in a tougher matchup last week. There’s still some risk with Bradford, who has been inconsistent as a pro, but he’s rolling right now with talent all around him.
Robert Griffin III WAS DET The Lions will score on the Redskins. RGIII will either keep up or he’ll play from behind, which has worked ok for fantasy purposes over the first two games.
Tony Romo DAL STL He says he’s taking another pain injection. He is very playable, but the injury is of some concern. Start him if you normally would. They will have to throw the ball to win this game.
Cam Newton CAR NYG Newton’s been used poorly so far. I expect that to change this week. They need to use Cam’s wheels and they will this week. He can’t just sit in the pocket against the Giants.
Tom Brady NE TB They will get more people involved this week. The rookies are being force-fed which means they will keep improving. I expect better results than last week and remember, the Pats just missed on a few more scores. Brady could easily have had four touchdowns last week.
Russell Wilson SEA JAC He’ll do well, but the huge game could go up in smoke if they beat them too badly too quickly or score defensively. This game looks like 50-0 going in but I really doubt that they want to embarrass Jags’ HC and former Seattle DC Gus Bradley by running up the score.
Eli Manning NYG @CAR This is a throw-to-win game for Eli. He’s a pretty good fantasy play.
Andrew Luck IND @SF If Luck comes through here, I will be impressed. Quite honestly, I just hope he gets out alive.
Andy Dalton CIN GB He’s been solid and this should be his best game so far at home against a less than outstanding defense.
Philip Rivers SD @TEN He’s been shockingly good, but we’re still not convinced that he can last for fantasy purposes. Clearly the new coaching staff is a positive right now and Rivers is a solid play if you need him.
Carson Palmer ARI @NO He’s a decent play here in a game that could be high-scoring, but Fitz is less than 100%.
Jay Cutler CHI @PIT Bad matchup, but he’s been solid so far. He’s playable if you need him.
Ryan Tannehill MIA ATL He’s playable in 12-team leagues if you need help though they might slow the pace this week versus Atlanta.
Matt Schaub HOU @BAL He’s playable but with his LT Duane Brown out this week, he’s no lock for significant Week 3 value.
Terrelle Pryor OAK @DEN Pryor has opened eyes, but this matchup is bad. He’s viable in 12-team leagues, but you can hopefully do better.
Joe Flacco BAL HOU He’s playable , but they need to get him more help. Not a great matchup, but at least it’s at home.
Ben Roethlisberger PIT CHI Bad matchup and he’s got problems all around him in Pittsburgh. OC Todd Haley’s days should be numbered though I am not sure they are.
EJ Manuel BUF @NYJ He has some upside here, but Rex Ryan’s defense will throw some things at him.
Josh Freeman TB @NE He could make some plays, but he is not at all dependable right now.
Geno Smith NYJ BUF Not after what we saw last week and with all the good options available.
Jake Locker TEN SD His receivers are banged up and he’s been mediocre so far.
Christian Ponder MIN CLE At least he’s at home.
Brian Hoyer CLE @MIN Please don’t.
Chad Henne JAC @SEA Don’t even think about it.
Michael Vick PHI KC (already played) He is rolling and I suggest you roll with him. He’ll play inspired football against his former HC.
Alex Smith KC @PHI (Already Played) Not a good fantasy play. Smith is mediocre and his weapons are less than mediocre. If Andy Reid has a special return, it’ll be due to Jamaal Charles and his defense. Smith just needs to not turn the ball over.
