Welcome to the Week 3 Quarterback Rankings. I’ll be back a little later with the running backs, wide receivers and tight ends. All of the positions should be up well before Thursday Night kickoff.

There are no byes this week, but injuries are starting to impact the rankings at all positions. Andrew Luck’s already been ruled out, just like last week. There are plenty of solid streaming options but things do get a bit dicey in the mid 20s.

Rank PLAYER TEAM Cost Matchup PPG THE SKINNY
Aaron Rodgers GB 7300 CIN@GB 04:25PM ET 22.03 He always throws for good volume—even when they are ahead. A very safe option in this one and he has some ceiling to him as well—even with a banged up Jordy Nelson.
Matt Ryan ATL 7100 ATL@DET 01:00PM ET 17.91 No reason to doubt him here. A solid day seems like a lock and upside for big day if DET’s offense can keep it a game.
Derek Carr OAK 6800 OAK@WAS 08:30PM ET 19.94 Washington looks like a road apple to me. The Raiders can't you so many ways right now. Carr should do well.
Tom Brady NE 7700 HOU@NE 01:00PM ET 22.23 A very safe play, but they will be able to run a lot in this game and maybe help some of their ailing offensive skill players.
Cam Newton CAR 6600 NO@CAR 01:00PM ET 12.98 Tons of potential here, but it’s not without risk. Cam is playing poorly. He’s loading up and making a lot bad reads and the accuracy is below his norm. And, its not like he’s normally all that accurate. I expect him to trend towards said norm a little more each week, but the key is for him to start seeing all levels of the field with his reads. It was troubling to see how many times he missed (waived/failed to execute at all) the underneath read. Granted, he’s not used to having a dynamic weapon in that area, but if he fails to adapt, he will fail to fully use his talent and he’s already without Greg Olsen. Getting the most out of his two rookies is now crucial. He missed McCaffrey on a wide open TD near the end of Week 2. The rookie beat the LB clean and Cam sailed the ball over his head. **UPDATE** Saints CB Marshon Lattimore is out and that makes this an even tastier matchup. If Cam flops here, we may have a problem.
Ben Roethlisberger PIT 6200 PIT@CHI 01:00PM ET 17.12 On road, so some justifiable skepticism, but this is a funnel defense for the pass, so he is playable in all leagues. Compelling price tag on DK too, but he’s been a let down in plus road matchups so many times that I’ll just have a share or maybe two.
Matthew Stafford DET 6200 ATL@DET 01:00PM ET 21.13 Tough matchup for him. They really need the ground game here to save their defense. I see a lot of running and passes to the backs and tight ends. Less upside than usual.
Drew Brees NO 7200 NO@CAR 01:00PM ET 20.44 He should able to post solid numbers but he’s better at home and Carolina is flying around making plays on defense.
Russell Wilson SEA 6300 SEA@TEN 04:05PM ET 12.32 I like him in road situations because he tends to sell out more when he runs. It gives him big game potential. Of course, if the SEA OL doesn’t get a little better, he’ll just be running for his life. Some risk here. More of a GPP play than a cash play.
Jay Cutler MIA 6100 MIA@NYJ 01:00PM ET 13.1 Could be over fast, but Cutler should slice and dice the Jets for as long as he’s allowed to do so.
Alex Smith KC 5900 KC@LAC 04:25PM ET 25.08 Definitely a viable play here with the Chargers’ corners banged up.
Kirk Cousins WAS 6100 OAK@WAS 08:30PM ET 12.73 I like this matchup for him, but man, this offense has looked off.
Philip Rivers LAC 6400 KC@LAC 04:25PM ET 19.46 Should produce here because he has enough weapons to show away from their premium defenders. Stacking him with Keenan Allen makes abundant sense, though Allen is not as underpriced this week as he was in Week2.
Jameis Winston TB 6000 TB@MIN 01:00PM ET 12.46 Needs to throw the ball to all his weapons in this matchup. I think he will.
Marcus Mariota TEN 6000 SEA@TEN 04:05PM ET 16.42 Tough home matchup, but he could attack this defense with his feet and it can work if he goes right at them. Seattle is tough if you run/play horizontally. I expect a plot of Derrick henry in this game and Murray too if he is healthy. Corey Davis is already ruled out.
Carson Wentz PHI 5900 NYG@PHI 01:00PM ET 26.35 Tough matchup, but they are throw-first right now, so he should
Dak Prescott DAL 5800 DAL@ARI 08:30PM ET 17.52 Viable because he has so many ways to score points.
Carson Palmer ARI 6000 DAL@ARI 08:30PM ET 15.92 Viable, but needs to play better early.
Trevor Siemian DEN 5500 DEN@BUF 01:00PM ET 24.15 Looked good so far. A viable option.
Andy Dalton CIN 5100 CIN@GB 04:25PM ET 5.73 Needs better protection or it won’t matter much. They also need to play to win and get Jeremy Hill off the field.
Josh McCown NYJ 4500 MIA@NYJ 01:00PM ET 14.11 He is playing well. He has scant support around him and I doubt he lasts much longer. Bryce Petty’s day is coming.
Eli Manning NYG 5300 NYG@PHI 01:00PM ET 10.13 Could turn the corner here if the real OBJ is back and if they can get some type of protection going.
DeShone Kizer CLE 5000 CLE@IND 01:00PM ET 12.73 No Corey Coleman hurts. I like Kizer, but he’s a work in progress.
Joe Flacco BAL 5300 BAL@JAX 09:30AM ET 11.71 Hate the matchup.
Tyrod Taylor BUF 4900 DEN@BUF 01:00PM ET 15.13 Brutal matchup.
Blake Bortles JAX 4400 BAL@JAX 09:30AM ET 11.56 Tough matchup and he sucks right now.
Jacoby Brissett IND 4800 CLE@IND 01:00PM ET 5.94 Has potential. More viable than Tolzien, but you can do better.
Case Keenum MIN 4500 TB@MIN 01:00PM ET 6.68 He’ll start and he’s a tough sell in this matchup.
Deshaun Watson HOU 4700 HOU@NE 01:00PM ET 12.69 Not playing a struggling rookie against Belichick. Nope. Not me.
Mike Glennon CHI 4700 PIT@CHI 01:00PM ET 14.28 Sounds like he starts again, but we all know where this is going. He’d probably be done by now but Chicago has so few weapons that giving Trubisky more time makes sense.
Sam Bradford MIN 5700 OUT (knee) 28.54 Sounds like he should be back, but obviously some concern with mobility and ability to play a full game. **UPDATE** He’s out with knee soreness and he’s getting a second opinion.
Jared Goff LAR 5200 ALREADY PLAYED 15.75 Niners playing solid defense and the short week probably favors the DEF and the home team. You can do better, but he’s looked solid so far.
Brian Hoyer SF 4800 ALREADY PLAYED 4.09 Short week and a tough matchup. He’s a @QB league option but you can almost assuredly do better in 1QB seasonal leagues.
