Running Back Rankings Week 7
UPDATED 10/20
Welcome to the RB rankings for Week 7. The byes are fully upon us and are listed below. I’ll have all the preliminary rankings posted by the time we kick off tomorrow for Thursday Night Football and we will update the rankings before Sunday’s games to better reflect late week injury news and practice reports.
The byes have really hit the backs hard this week and on top of that, you have Demarco Murray and Donald Brown out with injuries. Once you get into the early 20s, you see a serious drop in point potential.

| Rank | PLAYER | TEAM | Opponent | THE SKINNY |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Arian Foster | HOU | BAL | No Ray Lewis.
Ray Rice | BAL | @HOU | No Brian Cushing.
Maurice Jones-Drew | JAC | @OAK |
Stevan Ridley | NE | NYJ | Bolden is out, so his share will be higher than normal. Get him active!
Darren McFadden | OAK | JAC | Shoulder is not a big deal. He should play well in a plus matchup.
Ahmad Bradshaw | NYG | WAS | He is a game time decision and his workload will be an issue even if he does go. As we’ve been saying since July, you need to have his backups rostered. We like David Wilson (especially long term) best, but in big leagues, we’d try to get Andre Brown too as he may get the most action early on if Bradsahw goes down. The Giants are too good on offense to not lock things up if you can.
Adrian Peterson | MIN | ARI |
Matt Forte | CHI | DET |
C.J. Spiller | BUF | TEN | Healthy now. He looked very good last week.
Alfred Morris | WAS | @NYG |
Trent Richardson | CLE | @IND | Looks like he will go, but possibly with a limited workload.
Chris Johnson | TEN | @BUF |
Fred Jackson | BUF | TEN | Looking healthy.
Doug Martin | TB | NO |
Darren Sproles | NO | @TB |
Felix Jones | DAL | @CAR | Murray (foot) is a near lock to sit this week.
Alex Green | GB | @STL | He was limited in practice but he’s listed as probable, so he’s a solid play.
Steven Jackson | STL | GB |
Mikel Leshoure | DET | @CHI |
Shonn Greene | NYJ | @NE | Has a shot to do something with both Powell and McKnight out, but it’s a bad matchup.
Jonathan Dwyer | PIT | @CIN | We are fans of Dwyer and this is going to be his best chance so far to show what he can do. He should start tomorrow night’s game and we’d be rostering him in bigger leagues for sure with all the issues surrounding Mendenhall. A big game from Dwyer could make him a part of this backfield going forward.
Michael Bush | CHI | DET |
BenJarvus Green-Ellis | CIN | PIT |
William Powell | ARI | @MIN |
Jonathan Stewart | CAR | DAL |
DeAngelo Williams | CAR | DAL |
Daryl Richardson | STL | GB |
Vick Ballard | IND | CLE | Will start for Donald Brown, who should be out one more week after this one.
Pierre Thomas | NO | @TB |
Danny Woodhead | NE | NYJ |
Ben Tate | HOU | BAL | He’s healthy now and should get more touches this week.
Mike Goodson | OAK | JAC |
Montario Hardesty | CLE | @IND | He’ll get some touches and has a litle upside due to Richardson’s rib issue.
David Wilson | NYG | WAS | He could be a factor, especially if Bradshaw is out.
Andre Brown | NYG | WAS | He’ll play and he could have value, especially if Bradshaw sits out.
LeGarrette Blount | TB | NO | He got garbage time stats last week, so don’t get too excited here. Of course, the way the Saints are playing, he could get some this week too.
Joique Bell | DET | @CHI |
Toby Gerhart | MIN | ARI |
Mark Ingram | NO | @TB |
Phillip Tanner | DAL | @CAR |
Cedric Peerman | CIN | PIT | With all their injuries, he could be a factor this week.
LaRod Stephens-Howling | ARI | @MIN |
Chris Rainey | PIT | @CIN |
Chris Ogbonnaya | CLE | @IND |
Baron Batch | PIT | @CIN |
James Starks | GB | @STL | Could be useful if Green’s shoulder ends up being worse than expected, but only saw garbage time action last week.
Rashad Jennings | JAC | @OAK |
Delone Carter | IND | CLE |
Evan Royster | WAS | @NYG |
John Kuhn | GB | @STL |
Bernard Pierce | BAL | @HOU |
Jamie Harper | TEN | @BUF |
Mike Tolbert | CAR | DAL |
Jonathan Grimes | NYJ | @NE | Will suit up, but we’d avoid him.
Ryan Grant | WAS | @NYG |
Tashard Choice | BUF | TEN |
Brian Leonard | CIN | PIT | Banged up. Avoid him.
Brandon Bolden | NE | NYJ | RULED OUT
Rashard Mendenhall | PIT | @CIN | RULED OUT
Isaac Redman | PIT | @CIN | RULED OUT
Marshawn Lynch | SEA | @SF | Already played.
Robert Turbin | SEA | @SF | Already played.
Leon Washington | SEA | @SF | Already played.
Frank Gore | SF | SEA | Already played.
Kendall Hunter | SF | SEA | Already played.
Brandon Jacobs | SF | SEA | Already played.
