Welcome the the Week 3 tight end rankings. I’ll be back with the running backs before kickoff tonight and I’ll update all of the rankings on Saturday to reflect practice and injury reports. I’ll be back tomorrow with my Starts and Sits column at weei.com.  Jim Hackett and I will be doing a podcast tomorrow morning where we’ll cover a whole host of issues, including tonight’s game.  I'll be posting links to all WEEI content in The Rotobahn.  That's the place to go if you can't find something.  I'm indexing all in-season content there.

I’ll be back around 7:30 pm with the tight ends.

Rank PLAYER TEAM Opponent THE SKINNY
Jimmy Graham NO ARI He’s far and away the best at the position.
Tony Gonzalez ATL @MIA Miami is getting beaten badly by tight ends so far in 2013. Gonzo should do well here.
Jared Cook STL @DAL Had a down week and consistency could be an issue with all the options in St. Louis, but his upside is outstanding.
Antonio Gates SD @TEN He’s been moving well all year and he’s coming off of a great effort.
Jordan Cameron CLE @MIN I think he’s going to be very active this week.
Jason Witten DAL STL He’ll bounce back after last week’s bad matchup. Always worth more in PPR.
Greg Olsen CAR NYG He should be active as always.
Julius Thomas DEN OAK He’s been active in both games so far and he’ll make a few plays against Oakland.
Martellus Bennett CHI @PIT It’s a bad matchup, but Martellus is a bad man, so let’s call it even. You have to love a TE that says his head coach reminds him of Willy Wonka.
Owen Daniels HOU @BAL It’s a good matchup and he’s scoring well so far.
Jermichael Finley GB @CIN Should play but he’s nursing a toe so check his status to make sure. It’s a medium matchup.
Kyle Rudolph MIN CLE Not a great matchup, but he’s a TD guy so he’s worth a play if you need him. He scored last week in a tougher one.
Vernon Davis SF IND He has a hamstring issue, so check his status on Sunday. He’s yet to practice this week and is a risky play if he’s active. Speed is VD’s biggest strength.
Rob Gronkowski NE TB He’s listed as questionable, so be ready to start him if he goes.
Brandon Myers NYG @CAR He’s very playable in 12-team leagues if you need a starter.
Tyler Eifert CIN GB He’s getting more involved and we like this matchup.
Jermaine Gresham CIN GB He and Eifert look like an explosive TE duo and both are involved.
Coby Fleener IND @SF He could end up being a big factor with Dwayne Allen going down, but this is a tough matchup.
Brandon Pettigrew DET @WAS He should start producing, but he’s tough to play at this point. It’s a good matchup if you need him.
Jordan Reed WAS DET He led the Redskins tight ends in snaps last week and found the zone too. Fred Davis could be out this week which would increase Reed’s snap total even more. This is a player to watch. I own Reed in a few deeper formats. He’s a serious athlete.
Charles Clay MIA ATL He’s very involved and a player to watch now. Not a bad matchup this week if you need him.
Scott Chandler BUF @NYJ He matches up well with the Jets and a score is definitely possible.
Heath Miller PIT CHI He’s back at practice, but we need to see him play before we buy in. This was no garden variety knee injury that Heath is coming back from. He’s likely to get his first action of the year this week.
Dallas Clark BAL HOU Doesn’t look like he’s capable of being a big weekly contributor anymore. He can be a quality role player, but that won’t help your fantasy team.
Delanie Walker TEN SD Scored last week but wasn’t heavily involved.
Kellen Winslow NYJ BUF He’s not a high-end talent anymore.
Garrett Graham HOU @BAL He keeps making plays. Garaham will have value in the event that Owen Daniels misses time.
Vance McDonald SF IND Still not involved enough to play, but he will gain steam as we move ahead. He could be a bigger factor this week if Vernon Davis sits out.
Rob Housler ARI @NO He’s practicing and he could play soon. He’s a player to start tracking. He can be rostered in deep 12-team leagues.
Zach Miller SEA JAC Should gain momentum know that he’s back. Not a guy to play just yet.
Zach Sudfeld NE TB Could play this week and is a guy to watch.
Ed Dickson BAL HOU Very disappointing so far, but still a guy to keep an eye on.
Fred Davis WAS DET Davis suffered an ankle sprain in practice and is questionable. This could speed up the ascension of Jordan Reed.
Mychal Rivera OAK @DEN Just a layer to monitor at this point.
Lance Kendricks STL @DAL He’s involved but way too deep on the pecking order at this point.
Jeff Cumberland NYJ BUF He’s sharing duties with Kellen Winslow.
Benjamin Watson NO ARI Graham is hogging all the targets in N.O.
Marcedes Lewis JAC @SEA He’s out.
Travis Kelce KC @PHI (ALREADY PLAYED) He’s questionable for tonight’s game and has yet to contribute. He still has upside if he can get healthy.
Anthony Fasano KC @PHI (ALREADY PLAYED) Unlikely to play tonight. No way you should start him.
Brent Celek PHI KC (ALREADY PLAYED) Was very active in Week 1 and less so last week to put it mildly. He’s only worth a start in big leagues.
Zach Ertz PHI KC (ALREADY PLAYED) Could emerge in time, but just a small role so far.
