Welcome to the Week 4 tight end rankings.  I have done comments for tonight’s players only (plus Gronkowski) and will be adding more when I post the final rankings this Saturday. The bye weeks are here so get ready for the weekly scramble until they end in Week 13. I’ll be back later with the running backs and wide receivers. Jim Hackett and I will be doing our weekly podcast at WEEI tomorrow. I’ll post links to it here at Rotobahn. For those who don’t know, all of our weekly content is easy to find by going to The Rotobahn, where I index all that we do.

Bye weeks: Greg Olsen and Jermichael Finley

Jimmy Graham NO MIA Lock starter.
Antonio Gates SD DAL Playing well right now. Keep him active.
Rob Gronkowski NE @ATL Here only to illustrate how good he is. It’s hard to see how he is worth the risk this week with the Sunday night start. If you happen to have Charles Clay as your other tight end (he plays on Monday), then you can see Gronk’s status and still have other options. The other late starts at TE are Jimmy Graham and Tony Gonzalez. Gronk owners generally don’t also have those guys ... obviously. For most of us, myself included, it’s probably wait ‘til next week unless the Pats announce that he is playing early. Good luck with that.
Jason Witten DAL @SD He’ll see the ball plenty with Austin sitting the game out.
Jordan Cameron CLE CIN Being targeted a ton. He’s a TE1 all the way.
Julius Thomas DEN PHI No reason to sit him in such a sweet matchup.
Martellus Bennett CHI @DET He’s a solid start at Detroit.
Tony Gonzalez ATL NE He’s not done much yet and it has something to do with Roddy White’s absence for sure, but Gonzo is not a young man either. The Pats are a tough matchup for tight ends.
Coby Fleener IND @JAC Fleener’s a good play this week if you need him.
Charles Clay MIA @NO He’ll do something as he’s been very much involved in the offense.
Heath Miller PIT @MIN He’s back and he looked ok. This week’s matchup is certainly promising.
Owen Daniels HOU SEA Tough matchup, but he’s always playable.
Kyle Rudolph MIN PIT Tough matchup for a TE.
Jermaine Gresham CIN @CLE He’s a viable play this week if you need him.
Brandon Myers NYG @KC Myers is a viable option 12-team leagues.
Rob Housler ARI @TB Not a safe play but he has some upside.
Tyler Eifert CIN @CLE Needs to find some consistency.
Zach Miller SEA @HOU Miller’s value is rising because Wilson looks for him in the red zone.
Scott Chandler BUF BAL Not loving the matchup much.
Dallas Clark BAL @BUF He can make a few plays for you.
Brent Celek PHI @DEN Tough to tell what he’ll do week-to-week at this point.
Brandon Pettigrew DET CHI Struggling right now, but he’s always a threat to score.
Mychal Rivera OAK WAS He’s the guy with Ausberry done for the year, and he’s been involved.
Ed Dickson BAL @BUF Still a guy to watch, but obviously disappointing so far.
Marcedes Lewis JAC IND He returns this week most likely and is a flier at this point. Upside is he proves to be healthy.
Delanie Walker TEN NYJ He’s out there ... and he could make a play or two.
Tony Scheffler DET CHI He could be more involved with the injuries at receiver.
Joseph Fauria DET CHI My guy scored again last week and is officially a player to watch.
Fred Davis WAS @OAK Still banged up.
Jordan Reed WAS @OAK It sounds like he’ll either miss the game or play at less than full health. Not a good week to use him.
Zach Ertz PHI @DEN Not getting the targets yet.
Kellen Winslow NYJ @TEN Not what he was.
Jeff Cumberland NYJ @TEN Giving up too much playing time to Winslow.
Garrett Graham HOU SEA Not thsi week.
Zach Sudfeld NE @ATL Could make a play or two if Gronk sits again.
Anthony Fasano KC NYG Banged up with ankle and knee issues.
Luke Willson SEA @HOU He’’s a nice young talent, but only a dynasty option at present.
Benjamin Watson NO MIA Need more action to have value.
Vernon Davis SF @STL (Already played ... originally ranked 9th) He’s a game time decision tonight and if he plays, I’d start him.
Jared Cook STL SF (Already played ... originally ranked 11th) He’s got huge weekly upside and I’d be fine with him as a TE1 this week.
Lance Kendricks STL SF (Already played ... originally ranked 34th) He’s been involved but there are too many other weapons to count on him in fantasy.
Vance McDonald SF @STL (Already played ... originally ranked 41st) He’s been involved but not enough to be playable.
