Welcome to the Week 5 Tight End Rankings.

It’s already a crazy week with Gronk out for Thursday Night Football. Dwayne Allen is a great way to replace Gronk if he is on your wire. There are plenty of playable tight ends, but not many players you will be really happy about starting. The good news is that, unless your opponent has Kelce, you should be able to compete.

I’ll update these rankings on Saturday. I’ll keep grinding the tight ends and hopefully we’ll have a better feel for the final ranks.

Bye losses:

  • Jordan Reed
  • Vernon Davis
  • Austin Hooper
  • Virgil Green
  • AJ Derby
  • Coby Fleener

These rankings are based on .5 PPR scoring.

Rank PLAYER TEAM Cost Matchup PPG THE SKINNY
1 Travis Kelce KC 6000 KC@HOU 08:30PM ET 16.3 Top dog with no Gronk this week.
2 Zach Ertz PHI 6200 ARI@PHI 01:00PM ET 15.9 He’s getting consistent targets and he’s hit his stride as a player.
3 Charles Clay BUF 4800 BUF@CIN 01:00PM ET 13.925 He’s basically the number one option now that Matthews is out. Of course, the Bill to go down is probably Clay. That knee always flares up when he gets volume.
4 Delanie Walker TEN 4700 TEN@MIA 01:00PM ET 11.5 Great play but Cassel is a concern.
5 Evan Engram NYG 4000 LAC@NYG 01:00PM ET 11.25 Getting more and more involved.
6 Kyle Rudolph MIN 3800 MIN@CHI 08:30PM ET 6.725 Started to pick it up in the second half last week. I think he keeps it up and starts getting active in the red zone.
7 Martellus Bennett GB 4100 GB@DAL 04:25PM ET 7.775 Great game to be involved in and his price is reasonable. Nice way to zig while others zag in this week’s big game. A solid TE1 in seasonal.
8 Austin Seferian-Jenkins NYJ 3500 NYJ@CLE 01:00PM ET 8.35 Solid but still in the Jets offense so don’t go too crazy.
9 Hunter Henry LAC 3800 LAC@NYG 01:00PM ET 6.15 Slowly taking over. It’s frustrating but if you are a HH owner, there are probably better days ahead.
10 Jimmy Graham SEA 4900 SEA@LAR 04:05PM ET 7.3 He’ll play but not getting it done as much as we’d hoped.
11 Benjamin Watson BAL 3600 BAL@OAK 04:05PM ET 9.15 Great matchup.

45 Cameron Brate TB 3700 NE@TB 08:25PM ET 11.9 (ALREADY PLAYED) Was active in the red zone the last two weeks and this game looks high scoring.
46 O.J. Howard TB 2700 NE@TB 08:25PM ET 6.4 (ALREADY PLAYED) He could pass protect less this week. Big plays are going to become a regulatory with this monster. Could be start-able very soon.
47 Luke Stocker TB 2500 NE@TB 08:25PM ET 0 (ALREADY PLAYED)
