Welcome to the Week 7 Tight End Rankings.

There’s a lot of great young talent at the tight end position, but we’re not long on guys who are producing like TE1s right now. Injuries are a factor for sure. Jordan Reed’s been struggling with various injuries. Greg Olsen and Tyler Eifert have been hurt most of the way and Eifert’s done for the year. Charles Clay is out and Jimmy Graham’s been battling nagging stuff all year. Antonio Gates and Jason Witten are just plain old. We’re seeing a change of the guard and I would not be surprised if we are talking about a golden age at the position in a year or two, but for now, it’s a grind to find good options during the bye weeks.

My favorite DFS play this week is Hunter Henry.

I’ll update these rankings on Saturday. I’ll keep grinding the tight ends and hopefully we’ll have a better feel for the final ranks.

Bye teams:

  • Lions
  • Texans

These rankings are based on .5 PPR scoring.

Rank PLAYER TEAM Cost Matchup PPG THE SKINNY
1 Rob Gronkowski NE 7300 ATL@NE 10/22/2017 08:30PM ET 18.62 They didn’t have him last time they played Atlanta. He’s looking good after last week’s solid performance.
2 Zach Ertz PHI 6900 WAS@PHI 10/23/2017 08:30PM ET 16.25 Playing very well. A locked in elite option.
3 Hunter Henry LAC 4200 DEN@LAC 10/22/2017 04:25PM ET 8.633 He should see a lot of action as Denver funnels balls inside to the tight ends because their corners are just that good,
4 Austin Seferian-Jenkins NYJ 5000 NYJ@MIA 10/22/2017 01:00PM ET 12.3 Good matchup and he’s a huge part of the attack now.
5 Evan Engram NYG 4400 SEA@NYG 10/22/2017 04:25PM ET 10.7 Their number one option in the pass game until Shepard gets back and maybe even then!
6 Jimmy Graham SEA 4900 SEA@NYG 10/22/2017 04:25PM ET 8.98 Not posting big numbers but should be fresh coming off the bye.
7 Jordan Reed WAS 4800 WAS@PHI 10/23/2017 08:30PM ET 8.05 Played 55 snaps last week so there’s some real hope. Now we need to see more production.
8 Cameron Brate TB 4700 TB@BUF 10/22/2017 01:00PM ET 14.62 Very active especially in the red zone.
9 Kyle Rudolph MIN 3800 BAL@MIN 10/22/2017 01:00PM ET 8.85 More active the last few weeks.
10 Jack Doyle IND 3400 JAX@IND 10/22/2017 01:00PM ET 8.16 Looked very good last week.
11 George Kittle SF 3600 DAL@SF 10/22/2017 04:05PM ET 8.033 Played 66 snaps last week—more than even Garcon. We were on Kittle from the beginning so we are not shocked that he’s playing so well. He’s now known as a SRARQ guy, but do not be fooled, what Kittle is, is a very good two way TE. He’s going to be around a long while if he stays healthy.
12 Delanie Walker TEN 5800 TEN@CLE 10/22/2017 01:00PM ET 9.158 Great matchup, but it sounds like he’s shaky to play. He could certainly get pulled in a blowout. Risky. Listed as questionable.
13 Austin Hooper ATL 4100 ATL@NE 10/22/2017 08:30PM ET 10.04 Should see a rise in targets if the Pats smother Julio Jones as a suspect they will.
14 Jason Witten DAL 4500 DAL@SF 10/22/2017 04:05PM ET 12.18 Looks like he is running in cement but he’s a red zone weapon so viable.
15 Tyler Kroft CIN 3000 CIN@PIT 10/22/2017 04:25PM ET 7.98

18 Jonnu Smith TEN 2600 TEN@CLE 10/22/2017 01:00PM ET 4.75 He’s been producing and he could start this week Delanie sits out.
