Welcome to the Week 8 tight end rankings. There is some solid talent on the bye but not nearly enough to drain the depth of the TE pool. I will be updating all of the rankings on Saturday, so check back if you have lingering questions. We’ll be tweeting late-breaking injury info on Sunday, so sign up to follow us if you haven’t done so already. The bye weeks are listed below. Check out our full season rankings in case you missed them. The links are to your right.

      Byes

  • Owen Daniels
  • Jermaine Gresham
  • Dennis Pitta
  • Scott Chandler
  • James Casey
  • Ed Dickson

Rank PLAYER TEAM Opponent THE SKINNY
1 Rob Gronkowski NE @STL He’s still getting in light practices and is listed as questionable, but he’ll play as usual and probably score.
2 Antonio Gates SD @CLE He looked healthy heading into the bye and they will need him big time this week.
3 Jimmy Graham NO @DEN This one is tricky. Graham could sit out again (questionable/hip) but if he plays, and we think he will, you want him in your lineup. Check his status on Sunday as he is a game time decision. We’ll be tweeting on him for sure. They will use him a ton against Denver if he is well enough to go. The problem is his Sunday Night start. You need a plan B option if he sits. Players to consider on waivers.... Jacob Tamme, Joel Dreessen, Rob Housler and David Thomas (Graham’s backup.) At least one of them should be available, even in deeper formats. Good luck.

12 Jared Cook TEN IND
13 Brandon Pettigrew DET SEA He’s been limited in practice all week and he’s looked a bit slow in recent weeks. He will likely play and he’s a viable start, but consider other alternatives if you have a good one.
14 Jermichael Finley GB JAC It sounds like he will play, but he is risky as his shoulder limits him.
15 Brandon Myers OAK @KC
16 Jacob Tamme DEN NO
17 Anthony Fasano MIA @NYJ
18 Joel Dreessen DEN NO
19 Coby Fleener IND @TEN

21 Marcedes Lewis JAC @GB
