Welcome to the Week 2 receiver rankings. There will be some adjustments to these rankings as I continue to work through all the injury news and such, but I wanted to get the initial rankings out in advance of tonight’s game. I’ll also be adding more player comments.  I’ll be back in a bit with the the tight ends. If they don’t show up on the site, that means the electrical storm that’s currently going on has disrupted my power for the Jets/Patriots game.

Jim Hackkett and I sat down for another podcast today, you can listen here.

Rank PLAYER TEAM Opponent THE SKINNY
Calvin Johnson DET @ARI He handled them last year so we expect good things.
Demaryius Thomas DEN @NYG Look for for DT this week.
A.J. Green CIN PIT Looks totally healthy now.
Brandon Marshall CHI MIN He’s got a great history against them. Could really go off.
Vincent Jackson TB NO Good matchup after he lit up a tougher matchup.
Randall Cobb GB WAS Should do very well again.
Andre Johnson HOU TEN Looking great right now and they have nobody to handle him.
Victor Cruz NYG DEN Should post good numbers again after a great Week 1.
Dez Bryant DAL @KC Injured foot but he’s practicing and should play.
Julio Jones ATL STL Has a knee issue but it sounds like he’ll play. He’s listed as questionable.
Reggie Wayne IND MIA He’s going very well right now.
Larry Fitzgerald ARI DET He’s listed as questionable and they did sign a receiver today, so they may be worried about Fitz. Check his status before making your lineup decisions and keep in mind that Fitz is a 4pm game.
Jordy Nelson GB WAS Looked totally healthy last week.
DeSean Jackson PHI SD He’s the clear #1 option and he’s healthy right now.
Pierre Garcon WAS @GB Looked ok last week and should do even more in Week 2 with a more adjusted RGIII.
Hakeem Nicks NYG DEN Looked healthy last week. It was the best I’ve seen Nicks in quite some time.
Steve Smith CAR @BUF Smith is a solid WR2 play this week. Buffalo has injuries in the secondary.
Wes Welker DEN @NYG The Giants will give up plenty to Welker.
Eric Decker DEN @NYG Decker should have a lot good matchups this Sunday. He’s a big play waiting to happen.
Miles Austin DAL @KC He’s going to get the ball this week with Dez banged up and Witten facing a tough matchup.
Mike Wallace MIA @IND He should bounce back strong in this game.
Mike Williams TB NO He’ll be active all day and is second to only V-Jax in the passing game. They need Williams every week.
Marques Colston NO @TB Revis.
Dwayne Bowe KC DAL I see Bowe coming to life this week.
Anquan Boldin SF @SEA He’ll have to really earn it this week. Seattle’s corners play like Anquan does. This one’s going to be fun to watch.
T.Y. Hilton IND MIA Pagano says he’ll get the ball more. I believe him.
James Jones GB WAS McCarty says he’ll get the ball more. With Jermichael Finley banged up, I’d call that a lock.
Michael Floyd ARI DET Floyd is looking very good and he could get a little more love with Fitz dinged up.
Torrey Smith BAL CLE Will draw CB Joe Haden all day long.
Brian Hartline MIA @IND Looked good last week and the touchdown is obviously encouraging.
Lance Moore NO @TB I am liking Lance this week. Brees will need him.
Antonio Brown PIT @CIN Not an easy matchup, but he’ll be involved.
Chris Givens STL @ATL I like Givens to bounce back strong this week.
Cecil Shorts JAC @OAK His groin seems to be ok and he practiced all week, so he should be good to go. That said, Cecil is a marked man right now with few other weapons working right now. He needs Blackmon and Marcedes Lewis to get back.
Roddy White ATL STL Roddy will play, but it’s hard to tell how effective he can be. I’d definitely play him as a WR3.
Golden Tate SEA SF It’s a tough matchup, but Golden is a tough guy. He’s a strong flex and a decent WR3.
Stevie Johnson BUF CAR Not a great matchup, but he’s playable in 12-team leagues.
Rueben Randle NYG DEN Randle should be active again as he was against Dallas.
Tavon Austin STL @ATL Definitely has a chance.
Alshon Jeffery CHI MIN He has a decent chance to score.
Rod Streater OAK JAC He should be heavily involved again.
Leonard Hankerson WAS @GB He looked pretty good last week.
Emmanuel Sanders PIT @CIN Not the greatest matchup.
DeAndre Hopkins HOU TEN He’s a decent flex.
Kenny Stills NO @TB Will not see much of Revis.
Denarius Moore OAK JAC Flexworthy in 12-team leagues.
Marlon Brown BAL CLE He’s a viable option as a flex with so many injuries in Baltimore.
Andre Roberts ARI DET They may use him more than usual this week, He’s a nice PPR play.
Kenny Britt TEN @HOU Dangerous, but wasn’t targeted enough in Week 1 and Locker will have some trouble this week against Watt and company.
Vincent Brown SD @PHI Scored last week, but needs to get more involved.
Mohamed Sanu CIN PIT
Greg Little CLE @BAL
Nate Burleson DET @ARI
Davone Bess CLE @BAL
Riley Cooper PHI SD
Sidney Rice SEA SF
Brandon LaFell CAR @BUF He should bounce back in a better matchup.
Brandon Gibson MIA @IND
Doug Baldwin SEA SF
Darrius Heyward-Bey IND MIA
Robert Woods BUF CAR
Santana Moss WAS @GB
Harry Douglas ATL STL
Greg Jennings MIN @CHI
Cordarrelle Patterson MIN @CHI He will play more every week. Bank on it. He had a good chance at a score last week even with his paltry snap total.
Jerome Simpson MIN @CHI Much tougher matchup this week.
Donnie Avery KC DAL
Nate Washington TEN @HOU
Austin Pettis STL @ATL
Eddie Royal SD @PHI He has some ability and he’s more involved with the new coaching staff. A player to watch, especially in PPR.
Ace Sanders JAC @OAK
Brandon Stokley BAL CLE
Kyle Williams SF @SEA
Kendall Wright TEN @HOU
Dexter McCluster KC DAL
Malcom Floyd SD @PHI
Josh Morgan WAS @GB
Quinton Patton SF The General didn’t see much action in Week 1, but we expect his involvement to increase.
Jacoby Ford OAK JAC
Jason Avant PHI SD
Travis Benjamin CLE @BAL He’s banged up and questionable to play.
T.J. Graham BUF CAR
Patrick Edwards DET @ARI
Terrance Williams DAL @KC
Jerricho Cotchery PIT @CIN
Damaris Johnson PHI SD
Julian Edelman NE NYJ (ALREADY PLAYED) He’ll be the main option, which is amazing in a way. We’ve always been big on Edelman as our readers know, but his health is a huge concern for the long term. In the near term, he is a no-brainer start, especially with Amendola out. The big misconception with Edelman is that he’s a slot guy. He’s much more versatile than that. With Welker gone and with Amendola out, we’ll see plenty of Edelman in the slot tonight, but he’s a movable piece. Get him active.
Kenbrell Thompkins NE NYJ (ALREADY PLAYED) Thompkins is healthy and has been running with the ones for well over a month now. He will see the ball a lot tonight and makes for a solid WR3 option with some gig game potential. The risk is that he could draw Antonio Cromartie all night and that’s a rough matchup for anybody.
Josh Boyce NE NYJ (ALREADY PLAYED) He’s one of our underrated rookie from back in April. We like him and he may get snaps tonight. He has big play potential and will be a player to watch for all fantasy geeks. He’s got some flex appeal in really big formats.
Stephen Hill NYJ @NE (ALREADY PLAYED) Hill is a very interesting high upside flier for this week. Of course, that’s usually the kind of player we look for over the weekend when we get bad news on one of our starters. Hill is one of the few weapons the Jets have this week with Jeremy Kerley out and Santonio Holmes still working his way back.
Santonio Holmes NYJ @NE (ALREADY PLAYED) Need to see him show some burst and make a few good cuts before we buy back in. Just the fact that he is able to play is very good news for the Jets, but wait on Santonio as a fantasy play.
Clyde Gates NYJ @NE (ALREADY PLAYED) Gates will have a legit role this week and he can be an exciting player. The Jets have some deep ball potential with Gates and Hill if they can protect Geno Smith. A sizable if.
Aaron Dobson NE NYJ (ALREADY PLAYED) If he can run, he could be a big factor tonight, but he’s been nursing a hamstring. The Jets won’t likely use Cromartie on him and that’ll give him a nice size edge on whoever he’s matched up with.
