Welcome to the Week 5 Wide Receiver Rankings.  These are the preliminary rankings.  I'll be updating them over the weekend as always.  The early rankings for the running backs will be posted before kickoff tonight, so check back for those.

I've been busy today.  Check out my recent blog posts on Johnathan Franklin, the Dolphins backfield and the Giants backfield as well as our updated Watch List.  I'll be posting my weekly Starts & Sits at WEEI tomorrow and Jim Hackett and I will be doing our weekly podcast sponsored by Mogegan Sun.  I'll have it all posted here in The Rotobahn, where I index all of our content for easy access.

The bye teams for this week are Washington, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay.

Rank PLAYER TEAM Opponent THE SKINNY
Dez Bryant DAL DEN He’s a monster right now. I’m giving him the nod at the top with Dallas likely to be chasing Denver most of the day.
Calvin Johnson DET @GB He’s listed as questionable, but he’s likely to play. Check his status to be sure.
Demaryius Thomas DEN @DAL He’s locked in now.
Brandon Marshall CHI NO Missed practice with a sore foot, but should be good to go this weekend. Check his status on Sunday to be sure.
A.J. Green CIN NE Talib will be a tough matchup, but he’s dominant.
Julio Jones ATL NYJ He’ll get his, but not an easy matchup.
Randall Cobb GB DET Should be in good shape coming off of the bye.
Wes Welker DEN @DAL He’s on fire.
Victor Cruz NYG PHI He’s a WR1 this week.
Jordy Nelson GB DET He’s looked very good so far. The knee issue appears to be behind him.
Torrey Smith BAL @MIA Looking very good right now.
DeSean Jackson PHI @NYG Should rebound from two tough matchups.
Eric Decker DEN @DAL He should be just fine in this one. He’ll see plenty of single coverage.
Andre Johnson HOU @SF It’s a tough matchup and he’s been limited in practice (shin.) He’s still a solid WR2 and we expect him to play.
Marques Colston NO @CHI He’s a WR2 this week on the road in Chicago.
Larry Fitzgerald ARI CAR He’s a solid WR2 right now and he’ll move back into the WR1 soon if the hammy proves to be fully healthy.
James Jones GB DET He’s past the bye and ready to rock.
Reggie Wayne IND SEA Tough matchup.
Anquan Boldin SF HOU He’ll get the ball. That much we know.
Alshon Jeffery CHI NO He’s gaining steam. Trade for him now if you can get him cheap.
Dwayne Bowe KC @TEN He’s got some momentum now.
Steve Smith CAR @ARI Tough matchup, but he’ll see the ball.
Julian Edelman NE @CIN He’ll be a viable play until all of the Pats weapons are healthy ... if that ever actually happens.
Hakeem Nicks NYG PHI He’ll be fine if the Giants can protect Eli a little better. This should be a good week.
Kenbrell Thompkins NE @CIN He’s looking good right now.
Danny Amendola NE @CIN Plenty of upside if he plays, especially in PPR. He’ll be a game time decision.
Cecil Shorts JAC @STL Cecil is producing and the return of Blackmon should help him, but make sure he’s active. He’s currently listed as questionable with a groin issue.
Chris Givens STL JAC Has been a bit off due to Bradford’s woes, but he should do well against Jacksonville.
Denarius Moore OAK SD Looking good lately. He’s worth a WR3 play this week.
Nate Washington TEN KC Tough matchup, but he’s playing good ball right now.
Brian Hartline MIA BAL Not a great matchup, but he’ll get his targets.
Justin Blackmon JAC @STL We expect him to hit the ground running.
Michael Floyd ARI CAR Worth a look as a WR3.
Tavon Austin STL JAC He should get back to business this week in a better matchup.
Mike Wallace MIA BAL Just a WR3 right now, but he has some big play ability.
Roddy White ATL NYJ He says he had a setback last week and that’s obviously concerning, so you can’t count on him for more than WR3 production in 12-team leagues.
T.Y. Hilton IND SEA Tough matchup.
Vincent Brown SD @OAK He’s a viable play as a WR3 this week and a nice flex option in 12-team leagues.
Austin Pettis STL JAC He’s really played well so far.
DeAndre Hopkins HOU @SF Tough matchup coming off of a rough outing. He’s a flex.
Jeremy Kerley NYJ @ATL This is a week to play him. He’ll get a lot of looks.
Mohamed Sanu CIN NE Always a threat, but just a flex in 12-team leagues.
Golden Tate SEA @IND He’ll get it going, but he’s a flex for now.
Donnie Avery KC @TEN He’s looked good so far.
Rueben Randle NYG PHI The matchup is good but the Giants are unpredictable right now.
Keenan Allen SD @OAK He is gaining steam.
Eddie Royal SD @OAK
Stephen Hill NYJ @ATL Looks like he’ll play and he’s been cleared for contact. He’s a flex option in bigger leagues.
Brandon LaFell CAR @ARI
Terrance Williams DAL DEN He’ll get extra snaps with Miles Austin out. He’s flexworthy in deep fromats.
Ryan Broyles DET @GB
Sidney Rice SEA @IND
Harry Douglas ATL NYJ
Kendall Wright TEN KC
Jon Baldwin SF HOU He’s a player to watch this week for sure and I like him as a stash if you have a bench spot to work with.
Kris Durham DET @GB
Brandon Gibson MIA BAL
Kenny Stills NO @CHI
Aaron Dobson NE @CIN He got banged up last week but he should play. Hard to tell what his role will be with Amendola returning.
Lance Moore NO @CHI
Tandon Doss BAL @MIA
Ted Ginn CAR @ARI
Riley Cooper PHI @NYG
Jason Avant PHI @NYG
Doug Baldwin SEA @IND
Andre Roberts ARI CAR
Darrius Heyward-Bey IND SEA
Kenny Britt TEN KC He’s back at practice, but he’s lost the faith of his coaches. He’s a risky play as they may not play him much at all for all we know.
Earl Bennett CHI NO
Marlon Brown BAL @MIA
Rod Streater OAK SD
Jacoby Jones BAL @MIA He may suit up, but he’s not a guy to consider outside of really big formats.
Dexter McCluster KC @TEN
Clyde Gates NYJ @ATL He’s banged up and Hill is playing.
Kevin Ogletree DET @GB Now a Lion.
Damian Williams TEN KC
Miles Austin DAL DEN Still not practicing. Terrance Williams is a nice option in his place.
Ace Sanders JAC @STL
Stevie Johnson BUF @CLE (Already played .... originally ranked 36th) He’s banged up and he’s tough to trust as more than a WR3.
Robert Woods BUF @CLE (Already played ... originally ranked 46th) Playing very well, but he could get a lot of CB Joe Haden tonight, so be careful with him. He’s more of a flex option in 12-team leagues this week.
T.J. Graham BUF @CLE (Already played ... originally ranked 82nd) Not very active so far. Not playable.
Josh Gordon CLE BUF (Already played ... originally ranked 10th)Love him in tonight’s game.
Davone Bess CLE BUF (Already played ... originally ranked 58th) He’ll start and he’ll be active enough for 12-team PPR consideration.
Greg Little CLE BUF (Already played .... originally ranked 68th) He’s a guy to watch but he’s lost standing with the new coaches.
